Polydadmac for Potable Water Treatment and Municipal Water Treatment | Drinking Water Purification

Primary keywords: Potable water treatment, Municipal water treatment, Drinking water purification

Overview

Polydadmac is a high-charge cationic polymer for potable water treatment. In municipal water treatment operations it neutralizes negatively charged colloids and produces compact flocs for clear settled water and longer filter runs. The portfolio includes liquid and powder grades to suit different make-up systems and dosing equipment.

Charge neutralization Fast floc formation Surface water clarification

How It Works

Coagulation and Flocculation

Strong positive charges destabilize colloids and form dense, fast-settling flocs that improve clarification and filtration.

Program Flexibility

Use as a primary coagulant or combine with polyaluminum programs when enhanced coagulation is needed for color or NOM control.

Product Forms and Selection

Liquid Grades

  • Solids approximately 20–50%
  • Multiple molecular weight and viscosity bands
  • Wide operating pH window for variable raw water

Powder Grades

  • Solids ≥90% with convenient dry handling
  • Typical 1% solution pH around 2.0–6.0
  • Charge density typically 2–3 meq/g

Typical Use in Drinking Water Purification

  • Prepare a working solution before dosing. Liquid grade: 0.5–5% by solids; Powder grade: 0.5–10% by solids.
  • Confirm dose by jar tests and select injection points for fast dispersion without floc breakage.
  • Operate across broad raw water conditions using the product’s wide pH adaptability.

Technical Highlights

Liquid Series (representative viscosity bands at 25°C)
Band Typical viscosity Solids Notes
Low <200 cps ~20–50% Fast dispersion, quick charge neutralization
Medium 200–1000 cps ~20–50% Balanced settling and floc strength
High 1000–5000 cps ~20–50% Stronger flocs for challenging raw water
Very high 5000–>15000 cps ~20–50% For tougher coagulation scenarios

Packaging and Storage

Liquid Grades

  • 25 L plastic drums
  • 200 L plastic drums
  • 1000 L IBC units

Powder Grades

  • 20 kg kraft paper bags with inner PE liner

Store in original containers in a cool and dry place, away from heat and direct sunlight. Follow label and safety documentation for handling and shelf life.

Expected Outcomes for Municipal Water Treatment

  • Lower settled water turbidity and improved filter effluent quality.
  • Better organic removal supporting DBP control strategies.
  • Potential reduction of metal salt usage when used as a primary coagulant.
  • Reduced sludge volume and more consistent dewatering.
